Welcome to Hotel Alanya. Alanya (pronounced [ɑˈlɑnjɑ]) is a very beautiful city located in Antalya Province in the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, approximately 120 km from the province capital, Antalya. The city's population is 400,000.
Hotels in Alanya are plentiful near its historic center. Alanya's strategic position on a Mediterranean peninsula and proximity of Taurus Mountains made it very important throughout the centuries. It's been an important stronghold for every major civilization that ruled these areas - Ptolemaic, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Empires. Stay in Antalya Hotel and you'll feel their heritage right away. Alanya's golden times were in the Middle Ages - even its name comes from Alaeddin Keykubad I. The most important city monuments were built at that time - The Red Tower (Kizil Kule), Shipyard (Tersane) and The Alanya Castle.
Hotel business in the city is flourishing. Alanya hotels have 157000 beds - that's over one third of the whole city's population! Hotels are geared towards all kinds of tourists - you can find budget hotels as well as luxurious ones.
Over the centuries, Alanya has seen many rulers and was called differently. It had a Latin name of Caracesium. Greeks called it Korakesion, which was taken from "Luwian Korakassa", which means "point" or "protruding city".
Alanya hotels are plentiful thanks to it being a major tourism destination in the area. A wonderful weather, historic and cultural heritage, beautiful scenery are among many factors that made it a prime target for people from all over the world. One third of all real estate (including hotels!) purchased by foreign nationals is located here. During the Byzantine Empire, it was known as Kalonoros (beautiful) or Kalon Oros (fine mountain). Italian merchants called it Candelore or Cardelloro. The final name's story is a bit funny. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk settled the name in the new alphabet as Alanya, changing one letter because of a typo in a telegram.
